Dr Danny Jordaan Promotes The 2010 World Cup in America

Dr Danny Jordaan, Chief Executive Officer of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa spoke at the South African Consulate General’s Offices in New York on Saturday.

Dr Jordaan told the president of the US Soccer Federation, Sunil Gulati, US soccer fans have bought 93,300 tickets to date for the World Cup, while the US team will arrive in South Africa next week for the FIFA Confederations Cup.

Arnold Schwarzenegger supports US bid for Worldcup 2018 or 2022

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the bid committee trying to bring the World Cup to the United States in either 2018 or 2022.

“Soccer is the world’s most popular sport and California has been home to some of its most exciting games, and I am proud to be a part of bringing the World Cup back to the United States,” the former Hollywood star and bodybuilder said.

Malawi’s Flames and Burkina Faso’s national side

Malawi’s Flames and Burkina Faso’s national side will play on June 6 2009  in  Malawia in 2010 World Cup qualifying match.

FIFA has ordered the Malawian football authorities to improve the safety at their national stadium ahead of this Qualifying match for Fifa 2010 soccer worldcup.

FIFA has asked Malawian authorities to limit the crowd to 25,000 inside the 50,000-capacity Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre during the match.  The standing areas in the stadium to be closed and a perimeter fence to be installed at least 300 meters from the entry gates and to be guarded by police.

2010 FIFA World Cup south africa football blog

The Most awaited  2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, an international tournament for soccer , that is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa.

This will be the 19th fifa soccer worldcup to be played by 32 teams at 10 venues in 9 cities.

Egypt , Libya /  Tunisia (co-hosting) , Morocco,  South Africa were in the race to win the bid to host the 2010 fifa soccer worldcup but in the end South africa won the bid.

The official mascot for the 2010 FIFA World Cup is Zakumi, a leopard with green hair. His name comes from “ZA”, the international abbreviation for South Africa, and “kumi”, a word that means “ten” in various African languages.
